Trondheim - November 1, 2010
An interview with Paul Sermon was recorded on the occasion of Biennale for art and technology Meta.Morf in Trondheim, Norway.
Paul Sermon, artist, theoretician and professor based at The University of Salford in Manchester speaks very much within the context of The Consciousness Reframed 11. He presents the research he has been doing recently with his colleague using second live. He looks at some previous practices with telepresents and video combined video between first live and second live. He mentions his earlier telepresent video installation Telematic Dreaming using telecommunications and explains how it is related to his actual work.
What we are doing is essentially is about collaboration, is about people, is about interaction between people partners and i think this is very much sort of activity we are engaged in. Previously it was about the activity, the creative process between people. You know, back in the nineties it was really the main aspect and interest in the work and that is something now becoming more mainstream focused i think with this kind of work.
