Tyng ShiuhYap’s current art research is focused on the augmentation of perceptual viewpoints in spatial navigation, and its resultant altered logic of movement, and spatial-temporality. She began this line of exploration during her Master’s studies through projection installations that tests the re-configuring of geometry through split-screens. As part of her PhD work, she is researching the implementation of an interactive dual-viewpoints navigation to test the body’s capacities for augmentation.
She began her PhD studies in 2010 at the University of New South Wales (UNSW), College of Fine Art (COFA), Sydney, Australia, with support from the COFA International Research Scholarship. She holds a MFA degree from RMIT University, Melbourne, Australia and a BA (Philosophy) from Monash University, Melbourne, Australia. She had formerly worked in the field of the Performing Arts and in the Design & Build industry.
